Shubman Gill scored his first IPL century on Monday, helping Gujarat Titans defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by a margin of 34 runs to become the first club to guarantee a spot in the play-offs of the current season.
Despite a late revival by Sunrisers Hyderabad's Bhuvneshwar Kumar (5/30), Gill hammered 101 runs off only 58 balls, including 13 fours and one six, and combined 147 runs for the second wicket with Sai Sudharsan (47 off 36 balls). This helped GT reach 188 for nine.
With the bat, SRH was never in contention as they often lost wickets, limiting them to 154 for nine.
For SRH, Heinrich Klaasen (66 off 44) was the lone contributor, while Mohit Sharma (4/28) and Mohammed Shami (4/21) shone with the ball for GT, each taking four wickets.
