Team has missed Bumrah, and Mhambrey is concerned about the workload of the bowlers

Paras Mhambrey has experience in Roseau (Dominica). The national team’s current bowling coach, a former India bowler, is well aware of the effort placed on the bowling unit and the value of keeping them healthy and fresh.

Following India’s convincing victory over the West Indies in the first Test on Friday, Mhambrey expressed his worries about maintaining bowlers in top form given India’s hectic schedule going forward. The prolonged absence of Jasprit Bumrah from the squad due to a back ailment serves as a sobering illustration of how aging may harm a stellar career and the team as a whole.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-78322″ src=”” alt=”” width=”1250″ height=”936″ srcset=” 259w,×112.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1250px) 100vw, 1250px” />

“Bowlers’ injuries and workload are major concerns. Looking back over the last 1.5 years, Bumrah is a player that we have really missed. We haven’t determined who will play red ball and who will play white ball, but ultimately we have to give our bowlers rest,” Mhambrey added.

“This hiatus gives us a chance to build bench strength, too. Moving ahead, we must control the workload and maintain the fitness of bowlers.
September 2022 marks nearly a year since Bumrah last played. He had back surgery in March.

Mhambrey, 51, was a medium-pace bowler for India and Mumbai in the 1990s and early 2000s. He said that it was essential to take care of the bowlers in light of the ODI World Cup and Asia Cup later in the year.

We have been working on workload management, which is one of the essential things, for the last couple of years. Obviously, Bumrah and Prasidh (Krishna), who were a part of the setup, have been missed, Mhambrey added.

“We took note of it. Given that we play a variety of formats during the course of our program, task management will be crucial. There has been a lot of talk with the captain and the team management as well,” he said.

Prasidh Krishna has had back pain for nearly a year, same like Bumrah. He had surgery to treat his lumbar stress fracture and is now recovering.
