The manufacturer of iPhones, Foxconn, has applied to open a manufacturing facility in India: MoS IT

<p>According to a written response to the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar said that Foxconn, a well-known electronics manufacturing services business with headquarters in Taiwan, has applied to establish a semiconductor plant in India.</p>

<p>The Union minister said that the government has implemented a number of policies to encourage exports, encourage significant investments in electronics and appliances, and increase the production of semiconductors and other gadgets.</p>
<p>Among other things, Foxconn makes iPhones for Apple.</p>
<p>According to Chandrasekhar, Foxconn has filed an application to create a semiconductor fab in India under the “modified scheme for setting up of semiconductor fabs in India.”</p>
<p>This event follows Foxconn’s withdrawal from a joint venture (JV) to establish an Indian chip facility with Vedanta Group. With an estimated expenditure of Rs 1.5 lakh crore, the JV intended to establish its chip facility in Gujarat.</p>
<p>According to Chandrasekhar, the Semicon India program authorized Micron’s first semiconductor unit in June 2023, and the unit’s construction has commenced.</p>
