Commercial LPG Cylinder Cost Drops; 4% Off on Jet Fuel Rate

On Monday, the price of jet fuel or ATF was reduced by 4%, marking the third consecutive month of decreases, while the cost of commercial cooking gas (LPG) was slightly reduced by Rs 1.50 per 19-kg cylinder to match global averages. Nonetheless, the cost of domestic LPG, which is used for cooking in homes, stayed at Rs 903 for a 14.2-kg cylinder.

According to pricing announcements from state-owned fuel dealers, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) was reduced by Rs 4,162.5, or 3.9 percent, in the nation’s capital to Rs 101,993.17 per kilogram. This is the third consecutive month that the price of jet fuel has decreased. The price of ATF was reduced in November by about 6% (to Rs 6,854.25 per liter) and in December by 4.6% (to Rs 5,189.25).

The three reduction rounds have eliminated about 45% of the price rise of Rs 29,391.08 per kilo, which was implemented in four monthly installments beginning on July 1. The already financially burdened airlines will be lessened by the decrease in jet fuel prices, which account for 40% of an airline’s operational costs.

In addition, commercial LPG, which is utilized in a variety of places including hotels and restaurants, was priced Rs 1.50 less by oil companies. In the national capital, the price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder is currently Rs 1,755.50, while in Mumbai, it is Rs 1,708.50.

The price increase comes after a December 22 rate decrease of Rs 39.5 per cylinder. Every month on the first, the government-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) adjust the pricing of cooking gas and ATF by using the preceding month’s average worldwide price. The December 22 revision was unusual.

For a record-breaking 21st consecutive month, the price of gasoline and diesel remained frozen. In the nation’s capital, a liter of petrol costs Rs 96.72, while a liter of diesel costs Rs 89.62. The daily revision of petrol and diesel prices by state-owned fuel merchants is expected to occur every day, and it is based on a rolling 15-day average of benchmark worldwide fuel prices. However, this revision has not occurred since April 6, 2022.
